Auguste van Lerberghe – ballas invest Chief Data Officer

Auguste van Lerberghe has joined ballas invest in April 2025 as Chief Data Officer, where he will lead initiatives in data infrastructure, startup performance analytics, and digital acceleration for the portfolio companies. Based in Paris, France, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic insights, providing ballas invest team and portfolio companies with cost-effective digital tools, scalable systems and data-driven growth strategies.


In this role, Auguste will focus on building internal and portfolio-wide capabilities that streamline reporting, enhance digital visibility, accelerate growth in France and/or internationally, and reduce operational overhead. Serving as a key technical accelerator in both digital health startup needs and ballas invest operations.


Auguste’s appointment as Chief Data Officer reflects his rare combination of technical and sales execution, strategic thinking, and founder-centric empathy. He is well-versed in the fast-paced, resource-constrained realities of startup environments and designs solutions that are both pragmatic and high-impact. At ballas invest, his core responsibilities will include

  • Automate reporting and manage dashbards to monitor overall and portfolio

    companies performance

  • Support startups with data diagnostics and work together on value added

    development

  • Where relevant, enable product validation and traction loops through lean, AI-

    powered technology, as well as act as a digital co-pilot on impactful initiatives to help founders scale growth effectively

  • Pave the way to international expansion

His approach will prioritize time savings, operational efficiency, and actionable insights, empowering startups to focus on execution and complement their resources to act on few most impactful growth levers.


Startup Experience

Auguste offers multidisciplinary experience across digital product development, marketing analytics, AI-driven data systems, as well as digital campaigns, with tangible impact on market visibility, customer audience and sales generation. Over the past three years, he has worked as a traffic manager and data analyst, delivering over a dozen digital projects ranging from e-commerce platforms and performance dashboards to MVPs and process automation.


He also served as Junior Traffic Manager at Morgan – Groupe Beaumanoir (2021–2024), where he developed Looker Studio dashboards, oversaw attribution and performance tracking across multiple markets, and led the company’s transition from Google Analytics to Piano Analytics and TrackAd. His work significantly improved campaign efficiency, reporting quality, and long-term analytics reliability.


He helped drive consistent digital growth through the launch and optimization of over 100 high-impact campaigns with direct sales target achievements, from Black Friday to large-scale branding and sales pushes. Working closely with the E-commerce and content teams, he managed weekly campaign cycles with significant media budgets and sales targets to achieve, adapting strategies in real time based on political, economic, and weather- related factors. His role spanned end-to-end planning, execution, performance analysis, and continuous optimization across paid channels, ensuring strong traffic acquisition and conversion growth. This hands-on approach led to sustained YoY traffic increases and a tighter alignment between media performance and business goals.


Auguste founded his own digital consultancy in 2022, supporting startups in deploying efficient, scalable tech stacks using no-code and low-code platforms like Webflow, Figma/Bubble, WordPress, Retool, and Zapier. His achievements and expertise include:

  • Traffic acquisition, traffic optimization and funnel diagnostics

  • Operational automation and cost reduction

  • Investor pitch decks and data storytelling

  • MVP creation and product-market validation

Given its impact on proximity to the market and insights gained from other’s experience, Auguste will continue dedicating up to 20% of his time to his other entrepreneurial activities.


Education & International Experience

Auguste holds a Master’s Degree in Data Management, AI & Marketing from EFREI engineering school of Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, and a Bachelor’s in Computer & Data Science with Digital Marketing from EPF Engineering School and ICD Business School.


He has lived in 3 continents, in Copenhagen, Chicago, Singapore, London and more recently Seoul, which gives him a great insider view on international markets and where to start to design expansion plans. He is totally fluent in his two native languages French and English. In 2021, he also completed a semester-long international exchange in South Korea, in one of the top 3 Universities in Seoul, SungKyunKwan , gaining hands- on experience in strategy, retail operations, digital marketing tools and consumer behavior within the fashion industry.


His academic path includes the launch of several startup projects across web3, IoT, and e-commerce. Notably, he led the development of a music industry platform connecting event organizers with professionals via a custom-built app, and contributed to a smart agriculture startup leveraging IoT, blockchain, and data analytics to monitor soil quality and optimize sustainability.
